I think I finally realized why I left UD. Once you max out your character levels, there's really no accomplishment system left. And you know, simply surviving isn't reward enough on its own. Sure, messing with people as a PKer spiced things up, but I even got tired of that eventually. Maybe I'm going soft...
At any rate, I heard through the grapevine that some folks might be looking for a new challenge. I had a thought about that, perhaps inspired by the fact that I've been playing MadWorld a lot lately (FYI best wii game of the year). I thought, if just killing for the sake of killing isn't fun enough, what about creating our own in-game bloodsport?
The basics would be simple enough: the game would have a scoring system based on XP. You get points for healing and crap, sure, but the kill bonus makes for a nice incentive to get violent. But since PKs only count for half xp, there'd be additional point bonuses for survivor kills, and bigger bonuses for landing a killing blow with a rare or low-hit-% weapon. We could also have certain elusive or hard-to-kill characters count for double points.
So, we'd start a round by checking all players' current xp, and for the next week/3-days/whatever time period, killing ensues, and screenshots are taken for maximum points. All screenshots would have to be submitted before the round ends, at which time points will be tallied based on screens and xp increases for everyone. The one who got the most points that round wins.
That still leaves the trouble of incentive, though. Aside from bragging rights, what could we award the winner? What would anyone want, really? I can do image trophys, custom sigs and stuff like that, but maybe something more along the lines of real cash?
What are your thoughts?
